Frequently Asked Questions

Key facts about AT-research at a glance

Here you will find answers regarding the areas of application, functions, expansion options and technical requirements of the clinical multi-channel audiometer.

The AT-research is a modular, multi-channel clinical audiometer. It supports tone, speech and free-field measurements, as well as specialised applications such as free audiometry, multi-channel audiometry, directional hearing and the direct stimulation of cochlear implants. The equipment and test procedures can be configured to suit the specific area of application.

The AT2000 is designed specifically for cochlear implant centres, universities and research institutions. Thanks to its modular design, the system is particularly well suited to demanding audiometric testing as well as complex measurement set-ups.

In multi-channel audiometry, more than two different signals can be output simultaneously via different transducers. For example, speech and background noise can be reproduced from different directions whilst a separate masking signal is output via an earphone. This enables more detailed examinations, including for patients with SSD.

An optional surround module provides eight independent free-field channels that can be used simultaneously. By combining two modules, the system can be expanded to up to 16 free-field channels. Signals, levels and directions can be configured separately.

Yes. The AT2000 has a dedicated line-out for direct connection to cochlear implants. Depending on the system used, the signal can be transmitted via cable or via a suitable streamer. This helps to minimise the effects of room acoustics and facilitates examinations for SSD patients. Specific compatibility should be confirmed with AURITEC in advance.

The range of services available includes tone and speech audiometry, suprathreshold and dichotic tests, tinnitus assessment, free-field and multi-channel measurements, as well as procedures for directional hearing and paediatric audiometry. Amongst others, the following are available: the Freiburg speech tests, the Oldenburg sentence tests, MATCH, AAST, mFAST, the WESTRA procedure and ERKI. The exact scope depends on the selected configuration and the licensed test procedures.

Yes. Various multilingual speech tests are available for AT-research, including Arabic tests. The specific languages and tests available in a particular configuration should be agreed upon when planning the system.

In principle, your own test materials can be integrated using suitable audio files. In addition, hardware authorisation for external programmes such as MATLAB is available as an option. Requirements, file formats, calibration and the intended medical or scientific use should be discussed with AURITEC in advance.
