Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions about audiological testing procedures

Answers regarding selection, patient groups and technical requirements.

The key factors are the purpose of the test, the patient’s age, and their linguistic and cognitive abilities. You should also consider whether you wish to carry out the test in a quiet environment or in the presence of background noise, and which procedures your audiometry system supports.

MATCH is designed for children aged two and above, mFAST for those aged three and above, and AAST and SIMAT for those aged four and above. OLKISA is also aimed at children. In addition to age, the child’s stage of development, understanding of the tasks and willingness to cooperate determine which assessment is appropriate.

Various language versions are available for OLSA and AAST. The test language should be appropriate to the language skills of the person being assessed. For children without sufficient language skills, mFAST with animal sounds may be an alternative for hearing screening; however, it does not measure speech comprehension.

Availability depends on the audiometer, the software and the required test licences. Language versions and measurement options may also vary. We will work with you to determine which procedures can be integrated into your existing or planned equipment.
